About this footage

This panoramic vista captures the tranquil beauty of the Japanese landscape as seen from the slopes of Mt. Mikuni in Yamanashi Prefecture. The foreground is dominated by a sweeping field of tall, golden-hued grasses, characteristic of late autumn or early winter, swaying gently in the crisp air. These dry reeds carpet the undulating terrain, leading the eye down towards the mid-ground, where the expansive and placid waters of Lake Yamanaka unfold. The lake's surface, a muted blue-gray, mirrors the soft, overcast sky, creating a harmonious and serene color palette.

Beyond Lake Yamanaka, the rugged topography of the surrounding mountains emerges, shrouded in a gentle atmospheric haze. On the left horizon, the iconic, majestic silhouette of Mt. Fuji can be discerned, its upper slopes partially veiled by clouds, adding to the mystique of the scene. The distant peaks blend seamlessly with the sky, emphasizing the vastness of the natural environment. The scene is imbued with a quiet contemplation, suggesting the stillness of a December day in the Japanese highlands. The muted light and soft tones across the landscape evoke a sense of peaceful solitude, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the expansive natural beauty of the Yamanashi region. The image, captured with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 using a 20mm lens, faithfully renders the subtle gradients and textures of this captivating winter panorama. The perspective from Mt. Mikuni offers a classic and revered viewpoint of Lake Yamanaka and its famed backdrop, connecting the viewer to one of Japan's most celebrated natural wonders.
